All times in EST +10:30 for IST.
i heard that sikhs in army were 31 % in 1947
now govt is limiting them some percentage.(2%?)
the govt says the main reason unemployment of youths allover country.
the socalled southblock brahmins were behind the order. when all shatriyas and brahmins were pissing in fear, sikhs fought bravely against muslim and save our country from huge conversions.
pakistanis told exaggerately that they will capture india within 24 hrs if there is no sikh.
a pakistani will piss before a sikh and runs away.
should we restrict the brave soldiers to limited percentage? is not an an injustice to equal status? dont do injustice to army.
(i found some thread on same lines, but it is missing)

hindus always get confused
i have had many experiances with sikhs and they are a wonderful people. livign in a perdomonantly hindus area of orlando im a superised at how many american born hindus know anythink about sikhs.
it is obvious that both religions are very different , and it seems that only people uneducated opinions of hindus and sikhs cause contervasy.
in sikhism the gururs do use many abstractions from hindus religous texts, however they are only using them for examples.
e.g when sikhs say ram, they mean not, not rama as in rama and sita.
sikhs use many names for god rama being one of them.
it is interesting at how sikhism uses hindus absrtacts, they usually refer to war scenes, which i enjoy reading.
human rights being one of the main themes in sikhism, and the achivement of becoming a saint soldier, i suppose it is the principal of good over evil in the hindu texts that the sikh gurus used.
i often feel that hindus get confused with referances to hinduism in sikhism.
even more interesting is that these gurus are people tyhat have been sent by god to bring people together, yet it is uneducation and egoistic behavoiur which divideds people.
even jusus was born a jew, yet is seen as a muslims porhthet (issa) and is also a christiain prophet. yet jew muslims and christians do not quraell like hindus or sikhs.
i do understand that as sikhs are a minority it is easier to attack them and their community.
particulary in india where the indian consitiution does not see sikhism as a seperate distinct religion but as a sect of hinduism.
there is definatly a problme with sikhs and hindus in india, and india has been seen not to cater for the needs of sikhs but only hindus.
in response to many of the above comments i find it interesting how infomation is just materalised, sikhs were called sikhs from guru nanaks time,
pakistan is intent to beat off india, pakistan has many spys in india posed as sikhs and hindus and christians.
my question to all people that read this forum is, how can you possibly comment with out knowing the facts and the apparent truth?
amnesty international is a good source of infomation on attacks on sikhs.
amnesty have always been denied acces to india for a full investigation into human rights violations in punjab.
it is easy for the majority hindus in india to set up or ambush sikhs.
sometimes people often talk as if sikhs have done more damage than pakistanis..
pakistan will attack india before sikhs even reach a population of 40 million.

To understand how tribes were recruited into armies, and for what reason, read "Last of the Mughals" by Airavat Singh. It is a free book available at:

sikhs are HINDUS IT HTERE IN THERE HOLY BOOK , CHECK IT OUT :
The Dasam Granth Sahib
The Dasam Granth, was written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, he wrote about how Akal (god) expanded himself to become Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
He goes on to write in detail about the Chaubis avtar recounting the incarnations of Lord Vishnu,
Near the end of chandi charitra i, (Dasam Granth, written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji), occurs this well known shabad:
O Shiva (God addressed in the form of Shiva), grant me this boon,
that I may never avoid doing a good deed,
never fear the enemy when I go into battle,
but surely go on to victory;
that I may teach myself this greed alone,
to sing only of thy praises.
and when the last days of my life come,
I may die in the mighty field of battle.
He spoke the following lines of gurbani : ‘Like the water in ocean and the waves in rivers, we will merge with you, o lord. when the soul becomes one with Brahma we assume the universal role of air.why need we come back to this world ? Birth and death occur according to gods will. When we realise this mystery of god’s will, we will rest in peace.’
Chaubis avtar makes up a large part of the collections of writings by guru gobind singh ji known as the Dasam Granth.
Chaubis means the number twenty four and avtar means incarnations. this large work written mainly in the braj language retells the stories of the twenty four incarnations of vishnu in glowing terms, using forceful words with telling effect, to arouse the martial spirit of the people laying dormant then.
in the Dasam Granth Guru Gobind Singh ji wrote stories of Sri Ramchandra ji, Baghwan KrishanJji and Durga Mata Ji, Guru ji revered and respected them.Chaubis avtar, lists twenty four avtars, of these, the accounts of Lord Rama (864 verses) and Lord Krishna (2496 verses) are the longest.
THE FISH, MACHH AVTAR THE TORTOISE, KACHH AVTAR THE LION, NARR AVTAR NARAYAN AVTAR
MAHA MOHINI AVTAR THE BOAR, VARHA AVTAR NAR SINGH BAWAN AVTAR, THE DWARF
PARAS RAM BRAHAM AVTAR RUDR AVTAR JALANDHUR AVTAR
VISHNU BUDDHA AVTAR ARHANT, THE JAIN MANU RAJA
DHANATAR, THE PHYSICIAN SURAJ, THE SUN CHANDRA, THE MOON RAMA AVTAR
KRISHAN AVTAR NAR, ARJAN BODH KALKI AVTAR
At the time it was the custom to recite on the eve of battle the praises and warlike deeds of the brave, so that the hearts even of cowards might be inspired with eagerness of the fray.
on that account Guru Sahib Ji maintained fifty two bards to translate the Mahahbarat, the Ramayan and the gallant achievements of Sri Ram Ji and Bhagawan Krishan ji and others. At the end of Ram Avtar is found a special blessing on those who hear and those who sing this story, and thanks are given to god for help in completing the story of Sri Ram Chander Ji
The tales of the Devis and Devtas (deities) are all written with Hindu-Sikh philosophy in mind, and they all fall in with sikh thought.
GURU GOBIND SINGH JI FULFILLED THE DESIRES OF PANDIT SHIV DUTT SITTING MEDITATING ON THE BANKS OF THE RIVER IN PATNA BY APPEARING BEFORE HIM IN THE FORM OF SRI RAM CHANDRA JI, it is therefore not appropriate to assess the works of saints and prophets with the yardstick for ordinary men of the world. These visions were there to console the Sikhs and to show them that Guru Ji was with them at all time.
Gobind Singh Ji wrote a prayer to Lord Shiva called ' DEH SHIVA BAR MOHE' this prayer is still recited in khalsa schools today and a film has been made with this title recently.
Gobind Singh Ji based his own appearance on Lord Shiva, ie the long hair tied in a knot, the kara, kanga etc. look closely at lord shivas photos, that is the reason Gobind Singh Ji wore a blue paagh
He also wrote a prayer to Durga Mata to come to him in the form of a shield and sword to fight off the Mughals ?? this prayer was called 'Chandi ka vaar'??
Dasam Granth dedicated page 169 vol 2 onwards to Lord Krishna and the avataars
