A great Movement in Kerala

A great movement is spreading in Kerala. Kerela farmers have organised themselves to prevent the use of palmoil which is the main cause for the abysmal fall in the prices of coconut and coconut oil. A coconut now fetches 2 Rs or little more than that. Free import of agricultural goods have broken the backbone of Kerala’s agrarian economy. Now, the farmers’ movement discourage consumption of softdrinks marketed by multinationals and promote tender coconuts. I think this is the beginning of a great movement to take on the forces of globalisation and freemarket economy where the interests of the weak and hapless are not protected.
