Not Sure.
Gypsies have a very interesting history. They are originally from Rajasthan. At around 11th century AD a huge Rajput army along with their families were sent westward. The aim is to find the source of islamic invaders. They moved slowly and passed through the Khyber or Bolan pass. Their size was not big enough to hold conquered territories and the heartland of Islam was much further west than they imagined. They won a few skirmishes, lost some, moved very slowly encumbered by families and children and were driven north and ended up in the middle asia over a few generations. Cut off from homeland, a few generations later they ended up as a nomadic tribe in middle asia and europe. They still worship Sun god Rama, and have many cultural, linguistic and culiniary features common to Rajasthanis. Infact they are called Roma gypsies, after their god Rama. They introduced the single stringed Indian violin to Europe, that evolved into the four stringed instrument and eventually became a mainstay of Carnatic music concerts!
They were very heavily persecuted all through their history, and were treate as horribly as the jews during the WWII.
Their modern organizations use a flag of blue and green and Ashok chakra.
Though most of the maps show a branch or two leading from Rajasthan downward south, I am not able to find any mention of narikuRavar being gypsies. Some evagelical groups are classifying Lambadis and other nomadic castes of India under Indian Gypsies.

Narikuravar are a hunter gatherer tribe which became nomadic to survive enroachment of their forest lands. Narikuravar in Andhra, TN and Sri lanka speak in a dialect of Telugu. Where as Lambanis from Rajasthan speak in a dialect of Rajasthani. Do not confuse thm all as one super Gypsy group.

Gypsies in Hungary and Romania are singers and beggers like the rest of the Nomadic tribes in India.
They have no stories as you tell! Normally no one will go on an expedition with children.
They always refuse to work and involve in stealing, prostitution and begging in public places.
Gypsies now disclaim any Indian connections but history tells GYPSIES came from India as beggers and singers to Europe.
Gypsies are still good singers.

there are several nomadic groups. all are not gypsies. the european gypsies are called ROM or DOM. they migrated from india ( sindh) during very acute drought and famine long ago. they eventually moved all the way to ireland and evn to the usa. their indian connection is seen most vividly in the music. compared to gypsy music most of western classical sounds harsh and dull.
since gipsies from rajasthan desrt area they look similar to other rajasthan migrants like lamanis and banjaras.

Gypsies call themselves ROMA and really their music is good. During the communist rule of Eastern Europe, Gypsies were able to make more money.
