Hello. My name is Jean Baptiste and I have written a novel set in 18th Century India, titled "Adieu to the Mughals", and available on order at Amazon.com. The novel looks at the life and times of Mirza Ismail Baig, the last of the Mughal immigrants to India and his struggle for survival alongside the Rajputs and Ruhelas of North India.
The causes of immigration, and the fate of the immigrating community are also studied. For example the immigration of Mughal soldiers ended when they ceased to have any value in modern armies, and the same reason explains the upsurge in European immigration.
The Book features several European mercenaries in the service of the Indian Chiefs. The lifestyle and culture of various Indian communities are also described and their reaction to the introduction of new technologies are discussed.

  They were primarily cavaliers, whereas in modern armies disciplined infantry battalions carrying flintlocks were the main factor of military power
