Hi,
I am writing a story on India's fishing villages and the people that live in them. How they do their fishing today and how they live their every day lives. Do their children have the chance to go to school and their favorite games.
I would like to learn about their history and how their forefathers fished and what has been handed down through the years. Warmest regards
Laurie.

Hi Laurie Hadley
I'm a decendant of a south Indian fishing community
called the Paravars or Barathars(from Tuticorin in
Tamil Nadu).I now work and live in the US but most of
my family lives back home and I do have some that
still live in coastal areas.
I came across your posting on a discussion board and
had to reply to you eventhough its 1:45 am here in
Texas.I have always wanted to do a study about my
community ,but have not had the resources or the time
so far. But I could not resist the impulse to write
you when I found out what your interests were.
I could go on and on,but will save that for later if I
hear back from you.
I have always felt the need for documentation and
research on my community from an academic point of
view since there is very little and most of all we
have ,or what I have knowledge of, is oral.
But I can tell you what I know and maybe find others
back home that might be interested too.
I would like to know more about your study,is it
academic,is it for a book, what got you into this
?????????????????...Anything.
Hope to hear from you soon
Regards
Cruz
