With due respect to Gandhi, Yes Happy Birthday. In the article it was mentioned that a Hindu Fanatic killed Gandhi. True, but shall we ask why the "hindu fanatic "killed Gandhi. This was the time of massive uprooting of hindus and sikhs from present day pakistan and muslims from india moving to and fro. in the orgy of killing almost 3/4 million people were masacred. and arriving in delhi, the uprroteed fanatic who has lost his entire family like many sees Gandhi urging tolerance towards muslims. Is this possible anywhere in the world? No i am urging killing. I am only asking realistic questions. If we were in the same position like the hindu fanatic, how would be our feelings

gandhi was right in practicing ahimsa but he pushed it to far and was almost a dictator in urging that every hindu should follow his path. Yes Gandhi was a dictator albeit in a non- violent way. If you force somebody to accept your views unilaterally, it is dictatorship. Ahimsa is a great philosophy but it should belong to the religious sphere. to mix ahimsa with politics is dangerous. and like every politician who try to play GOD, Gandhi faced his death. But that doesn't take away his achievement at all ie FREEDOM from colonialism.

we hindus should NOT hate the muslim way as wrong. it is their way of life. Gandhi tried the impossible ie to convert Muslims to ahimsa which was opposed violently. what Gandhi sought was to convert muslims to his new religion "Ahimsa". and herein lies the muslim suspicion and desire for a Pakistan in 1940. actually Jinnah the founder of Pakistan the proponents of pakistan in UK in early 1930s as " dreamers who should have their heads examined". Though a muslim . Jinnah didnt practice his religion like the mullahs. Infact he drank whisky. During his last days of illness, he was sustained by will power and whisky. here he tretaed whisky as a form of medicine. so lets not a quick finger at Jinnah for drinking whisky. that would be short sighted. it was only in 1935 , he was convinced that Muslims wont have a place in Free India when Gandhi, perhaps carried away of euphoria, floated the idea of Ram Rajya. Jinnah was convinced. and thus began the road to Pakistan and the continuation of problems between India and Pakistan until today. Many of Gandhi ideas were borrrowed from Henry Thoreau, the great american writer esp the theory of non cooperation which was implemented in a devastating fashion by Gandhi. This was the beginning of of an Independent India.

would india have got freedom without gandhi? OFCOURSE. SOMEONE LIKE SUBHAS CHANDRA BOSE , or other leaders would have got it. Gandhi ensured his place his place in history by performing what his conscience told. Despite, any critism, gandhi deserves his place in history. he was one of the seminal figures in 20th century history and the father of a free india.

Tragically, Gandhi committed a grave error and what many other leaders did and still do ( eg Osama bin laden , today) and what the ancient Greeks knew ie the Gods exact a revenge for any mortal human being who plays GOD. That role is reserved for them. ant that price is death or disgrace. so, on this day, let us Indians and Hindus think and ask which path we should take in politics. I would take the path of reality. as for others exercise your GOD GIVEN "FREEDOM OF CHOICE' After deep thought always.

Thank you. god bless you.
