Dear everyone...
Hello, i hope you are all doing well.
I have a question for our Jain friends, if there are any such on these pages.
First let me say that, though i am born into a Hindu family, i have always had a strong attraction for Buddhist and Jain practices.
While i still embrace my family gods and my Ishta Devatas, i do pay reverance to the Nirgranthas and the Thathagathas, and try my best to live out most of their teachings and associated values.
I believe that many concepts in Jainism and Buddhism (even if not practiced by all Jain or Buddhist organizations) are of vital importance (e.g., ahimsa),.... especially in todays world with all its hate, bigotry, war-mongering, greed etc...
But all the above is just an Intro to what i want to ask:
i am curious about the Yakshas and Yakshinis in Jainism. I am curious about how they fit into Jain cosmology.
I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on the meanings, stories, etc... associated with these god/desses.
I am particularly curious about Chakreshwari (and other deities apparently derived from Shakthi), Manibhadra Veer, Ghantakarna Veer, and others.
How do these deities relate to Hindu gods, if at all (which in some cases i am sure they do... e.g., Nakoda Bhairava)? How did they come about to be worshipped by Jains, whose religion refutes the need for gods?
Any comments from anyone are appreciated,... and i would like to PLEASE try to keep hate threads out of this discussion... PLEASE!!!!
Thanks!

dear friend,
like hanuman was servant and friend and bhakata of lord ram ,in the same way there are demi gods like hanuman who have great attraction for the tirthankras.they are attracted by the virtues of good and when someone is worshipping the jain gods for the their virtues these demi gods they build a relationship with the person devoting towards jain gods.

I read that Ravana was a Jain ascetic in the Jain version of Ramayan. Your views?

Gods in Hiduism are different in South and North India. Even the basic names differs and there is no theory which relates Hinduism of south and north except avatar stories.
Over that Hindu Gods in North can clearly be viewed by face but in South they are often hidden in dark room and face is always covered with foreign elements.
Why is so much of difference. Gods of South Indian Hinduism do not exist in any History.
But gods of North Indian Hinduism do exist in Shastras, Puranas and Granthas or even history books.
Kindly comment .

Why in South all the hindu gods are AVATAR of someone. AVATAR means dubious changing of names. say my avatar name is idli vada.

Brahmins are frauds, they have cheated whole dravidian lot and even cheated thiruvalluvar logic and made him hindu without any means, when his original name was kunda kunda and he talks of Adhi bhagwan( first thirthankar).
He cannot be related to brahminism or sanskritism.
He was a sraman monk.
Brahmins had nothing of own so they renamed rechristined, fabricated dravidian culture to their taste, by avatar funda and mutilation. Not even a single temple (ancient) belongs to brahmins they tookover from dravids and renamed. This is one of the reason why gods of south are differntly known from Hinduism of north.
Brahmin survival has made caste among dravids and brahmin religion. Even today you will find lot of hindu temples with mutilated jain idols and some remains can still be traced with hands cut or head cut. Similarly in Mamallapuram one can find jain idols head being chopped and from some places even removed.
It it all brahmin technology which killed original culture, religion, language, heritage of dravids, AVATRIFIED most of dravid gods.
The prooves are 100s of stone inscription found dating back to 3 B.C. belonging to Kunda kunda religion and heritage.

Hello, I don't know if this is relevant to what this conversation has been about, but I have a few question about Jainism. I'm not of Jain descent, but I have a deep interest, and affinity for Jainism. So I just have a few question, about Jainism, and I'm not sure if you can anwser them, but its hard to fine out things about it, because its not wide spread. In a few years I'd like to take a trip to India, and the main reason of me going there is to see Jain communities, and there temples. So I was wondering is there rules within Jainism that dose not allow foreigners, to join the religion, or even be around the temples, or communities? So if anyone can anwser this that would be very nice, Thank you.

Hi Emma,
There are no rules within jainism which states that foreigners arent allowed into the religion.
I myself converted to Jainism from Islam and have been accepted into the community and been made to feel at home very much so.

Jainism is great religion which respects every life and every living being. Jainism is most scientific religion, which do not believe in sacrifice, rituals, myths which are perhaps part of every religion. It is nice to be Jain, which respect every living being. The motto of jainism is live and let everyone live. Moreover it preaches utmost care even for your food which involves grains and plants. since for survival you need little but with real need. Wastage of food is very much prohibited in Jainism. Even mosquittos are not suppose to be killed, as they are nature's creation and needs to be co-existed.

What is 'wastage of food'? 'Waste' is an unscientific term! Ever heard of the 'Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy'?

Feels good to think eh! Here comes the formula to wipe out half the world's human and animal special in half a decade!
Scientific eh??
I don't mind Jainism nor any other religion! But please don't relate them to science. Believe what you want and leave science alone!
