Hi Guys,
I've seen a lot of discussion out here about Caste... people from both the "Upper" and "Lower" castes have been spewing forth venom on each other.
The last thing our country needs is caste. Some people try to justify it by saying that it was one way of dividing labour... but who the hell is anybody to decide what kind of work another human being should do?
If one notices, the main reason why Western countries are advanced is that they value human life - I'll amend that statement, they value human life as long as the human is one of theirs. Well, what I mean is this - why is it that ditch digging machines were invented in the West and not here? Out here the mindset is simple - if there''s a dirty job to be done, get someone else to do it. Out there the mindset is that if there's a dirty job to be done invent a machine to do it so that no human has to do it. While that statement is not totally true ( the West did have slave labour and things like that ), I think it makes sense...
So our two big problems are caste and population.
What do we do??? Anything *practical*, that is.

I dont think that was the reason they developed machines. People in the US needed it, since they are after efficiency. Employ as little as possible. In India you try to do the same thing and the whole labor union will be after you for taking jobs away from them This is the problem. The reason that half our industries are not automated is that the labor unions dont want it to be. That is the problem nothing else.
Anyways regarding caste I agree with you, we need to eliminate it. As a country we must also eliminate the feelings of superiority/inferiority based on language, so what do we do?

Anja Nirubar Veerabadran,
I fully agree with your views. Caste distinction must vanish, that cant happen tonight or tommorow, it must be done over a period of time
And as for West people, that comment was very very correct, there is Immense value for Human Life and Liberty, as long as it is that of a Fellow White or fellow citizen.
Forget slavery, even in this 21st century, West (Europe and USA) are doing a lot of things similar to the Ditch digging machine example,so as to make their own Kind better.
Like many of the harmful/dangerous polluting industries- Leather Tanning,Ship breaking,Narcotic Production, Tobaco cultivation all of them have been silently relocated to third world by the Good Humane Western nations, even though most of the users of Leather Products, Ship Breaking service and Narcotic Consumption is West (Europe and USA)

Ashok,
It is a fact that Western nations do shift a lot of dangerous and undesirable Economic activities to poorer countries.
Take Nike Shoes, Shoe making is a very labourious and extracting work, requires lot of labour at cheap cost. The Western Nations have strong labour protection laws, yet the citizens of Western nations want the shoes cheap. The solution is to shift the production of these Nike Shoes to Indonesia or Bangladesh, where you get labour to work for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week with a wage of just 2-3 dollars per day.
Yet , Western Press and Media regularly highlights the Human Rights violations in Bangladesh and Indonesia and all poor nations. Now not even 1% of poor nations can ever afford these Nike and Rebook, but that is something you dont find in Western Press.
