Historians found evidence in Maladive of Kerala's (Cheras) influence there. Many word's including Mala is either Tamil or Malayalam.

  Maldives is refered to as Coral islands. The cholas had ruled the place.You can find about it in sandilyan's novels as pavala theevu.that is nothing but Maldives.
