While as a species, some beliefs are common to us all many core beliefs and attitudes, like our superstitions, tend to be culturally-based. In fact our superstitions tend to define growth and evolution within our cultural frameworks.
Almost every culture is driven in some senses by the superstitions and beliefs held by the group.
Our Superstitions say a lot about who we are, how we feel and think about our world.
Those who choose to believe, find their world delivering what they expect.... and those who don't, are not affected....
So let's talk about Superstition...""

SUPERSTITIONS ARE A PART AND PARCEL OF EVERY RELIGION,BUT A PHILOSOPHY ON PAR WITH ADVAITHA IS HARD TO COME BY.SANATANADHARMA IS BLESSED TO HAVE ADI SHANKARA AS PROPONENT,PAR EXCELLENCE OF IT'S ADVAITHA SCHOOL.ALL RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD,EXCEPT ADVAITHA CONSIDER THE INDIVIDUAL TO BE DIFFERENT FROM THE SUPREME AND FIT IN TO THE DVAITHA MOULD.WHILE THEY PREACH THAT GOD IS EVERYTHING IN THIS UNIVERSE,IN THE SAME BREATH THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM HIM.DONT THEY CONSIDER THEMSELVES AS ONE AMONG EVERYTHING IN THIS UNIVERSE?TO PUT SIMPLY,DVAITHA[AND THIS INCLUDES CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM AMONG OTHER RELIGIONS]IS LIKE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A SERVANT AND HIS MASTER.HOWEVER OBEDIENT HE MAY BE TO HIS MASTER,HE STILL HAS THE INDEPENDENCE OF BEING DIFFERENT FROM HIM.THIS THOUGHT OF BEING INDEPENDENT FROM THE SUPREME IS 'AHANKARA'.VISHISHTADVAITA IS SOMEWHAT BETTER.-MORE LIKE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO LOVERS.THOUGH IT DOES MANAGE TO CREATE SOME INTIMACY,THE THOUGHT OF TWO SEPERATE ENTITIES [THE LOVER AND THE LOVED]STILL REMAINS.ADVAITHA ON THE OTHER HAND IS THE RELATION OF A PERSON TO HIMSELF.SINCE THE LOVER AND THE LOVED ARE NOT TWO SEPERATE ENTITIES,THE INTIMACY ACHIEVED IS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.AN ADWAITHA PHILOSOPHER THUS CONSIDERS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIMSELF AND THE SUPREME AND EXTENDING THIS PRINCIPLE TO EVERYTHING AROUND HIM REALIZES THAT EVERYTHING,HE INCLUDED IS BUT THE SUPREME.WHAT PREVENTS THE MIND FROM UNDERSTANDING THIS TRUTH?LET US TAKE AN EXAMPLE-THE OCEAN AND ITS WAVE.THE WAVE IS BUT A MANIFESTATION OF THE OCEAN.WHEN WATER RISES FROM THE OCEAN,THE MIND IMMEDIATELY REALIZES IT TO BE DIFFERENT FROM THE OCEAN AND CALLS IT BY A NEW NAME-THE 'WAVE'.BUT WHAT IS A WAVE?IS IT NOT BUT THE WATER IN THE OCEAN?DID THIS WATER NOT EXIST IN THE OCEAN BEFORE THE WAVE ITSELF MANIFESTED?WILL IT NOT BECOME ONE WITH THE OCEAN WHEN IT MERGES WITH IT?THEN WHY CALL IT A NEW CREATION WITH A NEW NAME-'WAVE'.THIS IGNORANCE OF THE HUMAN MIND IS WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS MAYA.JUST AS THE WAVE EXISTED IN THE OCEAN PRIOR TO IT'S MANIFESTATION,SO DOES THE WORLD EXIST IN THE SUPREME BEFORE IT'S PHYSICAL,APPARENTLY SEPARATE MANIFESTATION.THE WAVE AT IT'S END IS NOT DESTROYED.RATHER IT MERGES WITH THE OCEAN.SO DOES THE WORLD WITH THE SUPREME.IT IS INTERESTING THAT THE WORD FOR THE END OF THE WORLD IS NOT NAASHA,BUT LAYA[MERGER]LAST OF ALL,FRIDGE HAD ASKED FOR WORD IN SANSKRIT FOR SACRIFICE.HERE IS A LIST[COMPILED FROM MONIER WILLIAMS,APTE AND AMARAKOSHA]ADHWARA,ISHTI,IJYAA;KRATU,MAKHA,VITAANA',SAPTA-TANTU,YAJANA,YAGNA,YAAGA,MEDHA,SAVANA,SATRA,HOMA,HAVANA.

Whatever the arguments are, No difference between individual and Supreme etc, In the Bhagavad gita the supreme Personality of Godhead Srikrishna clearly warnts against impersonalism and invites us to his original home. So why all these arguments? when Krsna himself says that 'come to my abode' where is the case of merger etc....? It needs more explanation........
