I write this from London.I am fascinated by Jayalalithaa.She reminds me a lot of Margaret Thatcher.Forget about her past excesses.I think she is a breath of fresh air to Tamil Nadu politics for that matter, Indian politics as a whole.Guys/Gals I would like comments from residents of Tamil Nadu and India. Do you think she is capable of making a tangible difference to the lives of the poor folks or is it just hot air.I have read some of her interviews, she articulates very well and seems to know her stuff,probably having clever advisors around her. Some writers have compared her to Hilary Clinton, as both are beautiful(subjective) and aspirants to the highest post in their respective countries.Please,please no DMK/ADMK bashing.Thank you.

  Well it is not a bold decision, sure its a daring decision albeit an arrogant and short sighted one. First all those employees will be back to work in another month either by explaining or by decree of supreme court. So we shall have the same corrupt, callous employees to deal with. It will he jj who will find the going tough after all the employees are back to work barring a few. Her intention was to save the 1 month pay to the govt employees due to acute finanical crisis which was nothing but her making. Dismissing all employees en masse is something any one can do - all that requires is hubris and a callous disregard to all norms of decency and decorum. The real test is to create an environment which will increase employment, business, trade and better law and order. Not hordes of policemen knocking the doors of teachers and dragging them to jail like criminals. Incidentally the police dont do like this to criminals. so much so for these ips officers. THe hindu pointed about the missed opportunities of the jj govt and of course we all know what happens. The hindu got one more defamation suit. Sorry folks you can admire her guts or hubris like the ignoramus vijyashanthi but she can never be a statesman. She will just be a notorious politician with an evil streak, thats all, her negative dispostion will never sublimate her to any glory other then her sycophants dole out day in and day out.

  Joe - the 'elite' people who are trying to perceive the absolutely monstruous and anti-democratic actions of Jj with their 'blind capitalist' views don't realize that they are supporting a draconian rule and ruler.   You are right in all aspects except the comparison. Very very few people can be compared to Jayalalitha one is Hitler and another one is Osama bin laden. Definitely she is iron lady on the ranks of Hitler and Osama bin laden. One more question What kind of fresh air she has injected into Tamilnadu politics?

  Now the Supreme Court Directs TN Govt. to take back all the dissmissed employees, except the arrested (around 3,500) employees. Now Jaya must obey the Supreme court judjement.

  With this objective in mind she has set her moves.
  People learn from experience and she has learnt that in the hard way. How else can one explain her victory single handedly against a formidable force of family politicians and self centred caste based groups.
  To achieve growth a support team is essential. Our beaurocracy has been infested with polarised bias. Therefore no meaningful translation of policy could be achieved. This cleansing can be achieved only if a dedicated and corrupt free servants are at the disposal of the government willing to work and work for the better of society. They should first be satisfied not by looking at people at higher levels but by comparing their existence vis-a-vis the average TN citizen.
  This is only a beginning and it is presumed that by the end of her tenure she will achieve her set target - No.1 state. With that achievement the beneficiary is not she it is we the citizens of TN
