To tip off the balance of power toward the people and against the powerful governments, we need militias in all the States of India. Since creating a new militia is a daunting task, and since the few powerful people that abuse power being in the Government will antagonize any idea of militia, the existing homeguards of each State should be promoted to exist as independent organizations (without any association with the Police departments of the States). The idea of militias is not to oppose governments militarily, but to give people the choice to defend themselves against their own governments. Will any lawmaker (MLA or MP) address this in their houses? Is there any hope that these powerful men and women will share their power with the common man?
