Recently, we have seen countless images of the so-called Mars rover, as it probes the surface of Mars, beaming back pictures. But is there any point to this? The cost of such an expedition runs into the billions. In Bush's own country, millions are homeless, starving, or unemployed. 30,000 a yr committ suicide. More than 50% of the population is obese. So when is left to wonder about the need for such costly expeditions. Is one visit to the Moon and/or to Mars, not enough?
