Ok, lemme start
Q) How can I back up a SQL server 7 database (running on Windows NT) across to another, which also has SQL server 7 installed and running with the same, Windows NT operating system?
I find it quite difficult to back up across other servers, restoring from another server is equally difficult.

Create a similar database in another SQL and export out the tables from your current db.
If u restore to another SQL on the way u are trying, it will spoil the integrity of the DB.

VM 2000,
Thanks for replying, I know that you can import/export data across databases, but I wanted to back up databases on server X to server Y, in case server X goes down, the way I am doing this is
1) Back up the server on databases X on to X
2) Write a batch file which will copy the BAK files from sever X to server Y
then to restore it back,
3) Copy the Bak fle from Y to X
4) then restore it
but again these are only backed up and restore to same server .
