Why do women try to reform their husbands?

I fail to understand why women, the moment they get married try to "mould" and "reform" their husbands, even when it is apparant to the whole world that the husband is far superior to the wife in everything.
Why does she get married in the first place if she thought the man had so many flaws?
And why do men give them the right to do so and become miserable throughout their lives?

Indian weddings seem to demean the woman and her family. Should we still continue these practices. Here's how a Brahmin wedding goes and many NB weddings too follow along similar lines. Look what the bride's mom, father, brother etc. have to do. No wonder husbands look down on wives.

Naalai muthal kudikka maatten sathiyamadi thangam
Innikki raathirikku thoonga venum oothikkirandi konjam
Aadu maadu kooda konjam sontham kolume
Naan aasayile paarkkum paarvai pesavillaiye
Bothai vantha pothu buthi illaiey, buthi vantha pothu nanban illaiye
I promise upon you (Thangam) that I won;t drink again
But I need some sleep tonight, so let me have one more round
Even goats and cows have relationships
But when I look, no one wants to speak
When I was high I was senseless, when seses came, I had no friends

Hi,
Nice song!!
I think 'thangam' means gold. What is 'Kanna' and 'thevum'?
hi :),
Common.. Let the groom enjoy atleast during the wedding. Anyhow his ordeal (sacrificial!!) starts right after the marriage.

Thangam means gold, but in this case the name of the woman is Thangam.
Kanna and theivam (not thevum) do not appear in this song.
Kanna is a chella name for Krishna and also used on young boys and loved (male) ones.
Theivam is God.
Chella means .... to konju
Konju mean ????
where is my whisky? hic!

Shakthi,
I got the message alright. I just got a little bit confused by the word 'kanna'. Otherwise fridge has hammered drinking hubby implication into my head well!! And you came along to add to it.
If she is also drinking, where is the problem? But poor husband's pocket will have a big hole, but in the bargain he can avoid 'peace nook'!!

My husband is not superior to me in anyway, and I don't let him act like it. Women try to change their husbands because they think they can make him better (nicer, more respectable, more polite). They can't. What you see is what you get when it comes to men. Like mother used to say " You can't change a man unless he's in diapers".

Not at all Ms Nalini. Guys can be changed even in the last moment of the life. It all depends on the wife and the pressure of her love, which soley defines the new character of a married man.

:))
Nice comment.
Thinking bout it,
Why should we ever try to change men?
Let them be as they are.
Accepting a person as he or she is, is the crux of human life.
NOBODY CAN CHANGE ANYBODY.
And one need not try to reform anyone unless he or she is morally wrong.
But does a man accept a woman as she is?????????
phew there again goes the question........and never ending answers.

You can change a man. Here is how it's done: First you must figure him out. As soon as you have a man figured out, he will change! We men call this phenomenon "self-defense."

Simple complex complex simple. Only the dead are unchanging. Change for the better. If the hearts in it, any issues are out of it. If you are a man changing may the manhood rise. If you are the woman changing may you feel more of a woman. Blurring genders is the death of the marriage.
