I find many some new brands in NJ markets like Neyappam, Masala Dosa, Paruppuvada and Koothu Parootta.I tried Masala Dosa and I find it better than the quality served in Gujarati/North Indian establishments
Can we start a thread bout our folks comments

I ate frozen masala dosai in a flight from Chennai. It was horrible. It tasted like cardboard!
Nothing can be equal to the hot masala Dosai in Vadapalani Saravana Bhavan

Are you guys interested in ready rasam powder , you only need to mix boiling water or prepare like soup, which could give you relief from cold/sinus induced fatigue and will tone you up? Expert maami wants to prepare herbal rasam recipes from south India and send to eager Indians abroad. Pls let me know.

Hi,
Things that can be cooked very quickly
- Lemon rice
- Tamarind rice
- Dal rice
- Ghee rice
- Milk + sugar rice
Quick side dishes
- 80 %Carrot slice + lemon few drops + 4% onion pieces + yoghurt
I prepare rice for three days and keep it in the fridge. Likewise I cook sambar, kulambu and keep it for 4 to 5 days in the fridge. It does not taste good after the 3rd day but if it is cold outside and you are very hungry, anything hot will go in! Also keep some pickles and potato dishes if there are no side dishes.
Other suggestions
- Noodles
- Semiya upma
- Rava upma
Don't worry if it takes a lot of time in the begining. soon you will pick up speed. After a while you will find that it is enjoyable and relaxing (cooking is now one of my hobbies :-)

Rishi,
I have seen the products that you are talking about. I have tried only porotta and ceylon porotta. They are very good.

I would like to raise a point here- How come most Indian stuff have stones in them - example jeera, mustard, even mtr mixes like pongal and instant sambars- I spend a lot of time and money
picking through them and even then I am afraid to recommend the instant stuff to my western friends (who love Indian food) out of fear that they may break a tooth! Any of you have these problems?

Dear Nagarajan,
Nice of you to help out others with your suggestions.Just bear one thing in mind-Things kept in the fridge starts spoiling after two days.so why dont you keep the required food for two days in the fridge and freeze the rest from day one. Moreover i read some where that rice dishes kept over two days in the fridge spoils cookly and has a bacteria which does not get destroyed quickly by heating or cooking, surfaces after two days in the fridge and can cause stomach problems.Happy cooking!

the best south indian food, without doubt, comes from the SANGEETHA restaurant near Apollo hospital(chennai) trust me. Im from Sydney(australia) and when i go back each year, it has become a ritual to go there. Their special fallooda is an absolute marvel.
